About being on the brink of menopause, navigating life’s chaos while seeking more energy, weight loss, and organization. Join my humorous, honest journey toward balance and self-improvement.
Hi there! I’m Lisa and in just a couple of years, I’ll hit the big 5-0. Let me be honest, I didn’t think turning 50 would feel quite like this. If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be navigating the chaotic world of tweens, juggling a part-time single-parent life, and experiencing every menopausal symptom under the sun, I probably would’ve laughed...and poured another cup of coffee. But here I am. Let’s paint a little picture:

I have two amazing girls who are in that delightful (read: exhausting) tween phase—full of hormones, attitude, and endless activities. I love them to pieces, but it seems like every day is a new adventure in chauffeuring them to dance classes, soccer practice, and sleepovers, while I barely find time to breathe. My husband? Well, he’s a rock, but he’s also an international truck driver. This means he’s home most weekends, but during the week, it’s just me, the kids, and the never-ending to-do list.

You’d think after 8 years of being a part-time single parent, I’d have this all figured out. Spoiler alert: I don’t.
I work part-time while the kids are at school, but honestly, between cooking (and let’s be real, it’s not always gourmet or even healthy), cleaning (or attempting to), and managing the house, I’m drained. Add in a foggy brain, mood swings, weight gain, and being so tired I’m usually in bed by 8:30 p.m., and well…let’s just say I’m not living my best life.
Oh, and can we talk about the weight? Yep, that’s the cherry on top of this hormonal sundae. Over the last few years, I’ve put on more weight than I’d like to admit. I keep telling myself it’s just a phase, but the truth is, the phase has lingered a little longer than I’d like. And the worst part? The scale seems to be stuck, no matter what I try.

If you’re still with me, thank you. I know, I’m laying it on thick. But here’s the thing: I know I’m not alone in this. There are so many women out there who feel exactly like I do. You might be one of them.
So, why am I here, writing this blog post? Because I want change. I want to feel good about the woman staring back at me in the mirror. I want more energy to keep up with my girls, to enjoy time with my husband when he’s home, and to stop feeling like I’m barely surviving. I want to lose the weight (thanks, hormones!), clear the brain fog, and maybe, just maybe, stop feeling like a mess 90% of the time.
But here’s the catch: I know this is going to take time. A lot of time. And it’s going to require something I’ve never been great at—habit change. Ugh. even thinking about it makes me feel like I have no idea where to start. But I’ve realized that if I want things to be different, I have to start doing things differently, I van start anywhere.

So, I’ve decided to document my journey. Welcome to my space, where I’ll be sharing the good, the bad, and the downright ugly of trying to get my life together. Think of this as my own little self-improvement project—except with more coffee and maybe some yelling now and then. I’m going to be digging into everything from how to build better habits (because seriously, my lack of routine is killing me), to finding workouts that don’t make me want to die, to figuring out how to eat better without giving up on food altogether. And of course, I’ll be sharing every tip, trick, and failure along the way.
I’ve also decided to embrace this journey on social media. So, if you’re curious (or just want to see me attempt yoga without falling on my face), you can follow me on Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube. My hope is that by sharing what I learn, I can help others who are also feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and, well…stuck.
I’m not looking for a quick fix or some miracle diet. I know better than that. What I’m looking for is a sustainable way to live better and feel better. I know it’s going to be a long road, but I’m ready to take that first step.
So, here’s to messy houses, hormonal meltdowns, and finding our spark again—one small step at a time.
I’m Lisa, and I’m ready for change. Are you?
